Volunteer: School beautification alongside participants from Young Men UnitedUWCM volunteers will support internal and/or external school beautification efforts alongside the program participants and staff of the Young Men United program. During this experience, all participants will collaborate in a clean-up project on the school grounds, and support other beautification efforts within the school as identified by leaders of Patterson High School. Civic engagement is a priority of the YMU program, and the volunteers will have a great time engaging and serving alongside our youth ambassadors to bring change within the PHS community. Young Men United is an innovative education equity initiative designed to empower young men of color to reach their academic and career aspirations. This effort supports neighbors who need extra help during severe winter conditions. What Volunteers Will Do: Work independently or in small volunteer teams to shovel snow from sidewalks, driveways and entryways. Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must provide their own tools, equipment, supplies and protective gear including shovels, gloves, boots and appropriate winter clothing. Volunteers must provide their own transportation to and from assigned locations. Volunteers must be physically able to perform snow shoveling safely.
