Home set up for refugees
Please wear tennis shoes, and dress warmly.
We have openings for 6 new(er) volunteers and 2 openings for more experienced volunteers. In addition, we will need a team lead who has held the position before. We are also opening waitlist spots in case we need someone to step in at the last minute.
What will I do? Come ready to carry furniture, wash dishes, hang pictures, help prepare furniture (check drawers, give a quick dust or vacuum) so it's in best shape possible to give to newcomers. Be sure to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes and shoes that you can work in. Come ready to work hard, have fun, and be flexible!
Where will I go and when? There will be 2 Teams. Team 1 will start at our storage facility in LANDOVER at 9:30am and finish up at the apartment in Adelphi around 2 pm. They will largely be transporting furniture and household goods and helping Team 2 once they arrive. If you have a large vehicle (truck/van), we would love your help driving furniture or boxes over to the apartment. Team 2 will start at the apartment in ADELPHI at 10:30 am and finish around 2 pm. They will be joined by Team 1 and help them unload and set up the apartment.
