Students from K-12 will have the opportunity to rotate through various stations designed to promote environmental awareness. Activities will include hands-on learning experiences, cleanup efforts, and discussions on sustainability.
- Groups will rotate through stations every 15-20 minutes
- Teachers will guide their own class rotations
STATIONS & ACTIVITIES:
1. Trash Pickup & Cleanup Plan
- Each class will be assigned a section of the school to clean
- Encourage friendly competition by tracking the GROUP with most collected waste.
- Potentially reward the groups with the highest trash pickup with dojo bucks that can be used to redeem snacks, etc.
2. Sorting Trash, Recycling, & Compost
- Students will sort what they picked up. (More reuseable gloves needed, each student can use 1 glove)
- The group that correctly sorts the most earns dojo bucks
3. School Tour Stop: Drains & Water Impact Discussion
- Highlight the connection between litter and water pollution
- Discuss how trash in drains affects local ecosystems
4. School Tour Stop: School Compost Bin:
- Students learn where the school compost bin is located.
-Composting with Worms ( Student facilitated)
- Hands-on experience with worm composting.
- Explanation of food waste breakdown and soil benefits
5. School Tour Stop: School Garden Stop
- Students will either plant or help clean up the garden
- Learn about native plants and their environmental benefits
6. School Tour Stop: Weather Station & Air Quality Control Discussion
- Explain how weather and air quality impact the environment
- Allow students to interact with weather monitoring tools
