Maryland Humanities is a statewide educational nonprofit that creates and supports experiences in the humanities that inspire Marylanders to embrace lifelong learning, exchange ideas openly, and enrich their communities.
The Maryland Humanities organization has a program called Maryland History Day. Maryland History Day is a year-long history research project for middle and high school students. Students with the best projects in their districts will advance to the state competition at UMBC, where we need over 200 volunteer judges to interview students, give them valuable feedback, and rank their projects. When you fill out the sign up sheet, you will select your preferred category to judge, choosing from paper, exhibit, documentary, performance, and website. We are looking for volunteers who value student education. Some experience working with students is preferred, and an understanding of historical processes is useful. All volunteers will go through 30 minute training module.
If you're interested in judging on May 2nd, please go to https://md.nhd.org and create a judge account.
Parking is free on the UMBC campus. Details about location will be emailed once judges register through the website. We can't provide childcare but can work with you if you need to bring a child. Please bring a notepad and a pencil with you upon arriving!
